CryoPen is an advanced cryotherapy innovation that is a fast, effective, safe and new solution for removal of skin imperfections. Procedures typically last from 5 to 25 seconds, so you can be in and out of the salon quickly.

The CryoPen emits a fine jet of nitrous oxide under high pressure, which allows the clinician to work with millimetre precision. This destroys the tissue by freezing the inter-cellular fluid, forming ice shards and crystals which rupture the membrane, thereby destroying the cell. That means there will be no collateral damage to healthy tissue. It’s so incredibly accurate and practical.
Cosmetic procedures such as skin tags, milia and cherry angiomas are no longer being treated by many doctors on the NHS. With the CryoPen™ you can now have these treatments in the beauty salon.

The duration of the treatment time will depend on the surface area and the thickness of the tissue being treated. Upon the clinical evaluation of the thickness of the area, the clinician will choose an application time from 1 to 30 seconds. It is a relatively low risk procedure, and the CryoPen™ is both CE and FDA registered.

How does it work?
The applicator is held as close as possible to the skin imperfection and moved quickly towards and away from it. This could be from 1-30 seconds, depending on the size and depth.
After the first freeze cycle, the tissue is allowed to thaw for about 30 seconds.
Now the second freeze cycle will begin. The skin tissue will freeze faster than during the first freezing cycle.
How much will it cost?
The cost of treatment will depend on the clinic and the size of the area. Make an appointment with your clinician to discuss costs and to assess your area. You may need more than one treatment.
From £50
Is it painful?
There will be a sensation similar to a stinging nettle on the skin when the nitrous oxide reaches the bottom of the area. There might be a little residual stinging for a few minutes after treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Cryotherapy is relatively low risk. There are a few possible side effects which may occur as a result of treatment including:
-
Pigmentary changes (hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation). If this happens skin colour normally returns after a few months.
-
Nerve damage - particularly in areas where nerves lie close to the surface of the skin, on fingers, wrist, area behind the ear, etc. Reports show that normal sensitivity returns after a few months.
-
Shards of frozen ice. Minor shards of frozen ice may blow out, which will thaw on contact with healthy skin.
-
Hair follicle damage and permanent alopecia, especially when treating on sites with coarse terminal hair.
Please discuss any concerns you have with your clinician.
Veinwave

Your treatment
Most salons will use the method of Electrolysis, we used this method many years ago but the Veinwave method is a far more effective and faster way of treating skin issues with quicker skin recovery.

We do not remove veins from the legs, Veinwave is for the face and body.

A small needle touches the skin (it is not painful) and a microwave current is passed through the needle to coagulate the blood in the vein. Initially the vein will blanch and the surrounding skin may become a little red, this will soon go down.
The actual vein may take 4 to 8 weeks to completely disappear. In most cases this happens within a couple of weeks but it will depend on the healing rate of the skin. You can go out in the sun after treatment but we would always recommend the use of at least 30SPF. Once a vein has been treated it cannot come back, however if you are prone to veins you may find you will get more as time passes.

How does the treatment work?
Light is released in short pulses that are readily absorbed by the high concentration of melanin found within pigmented lesions. The rapid absorption of light energy heats the melanin and causes the destruction of the melanin-rich cells.

During your appointment the light applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is then moved to the neighboring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. With Q-Switched Laser treatments due to the power of the Laser energy delivered into the skin, a small amount of pinpoint bleeding may occur during the treatment, and a dressing may be applied after the treatment to protect the skin while it heals. During treatment protective eye equipment is required.
How does the treatment feel?
Most patients describe the discomfort as mild and tolerable and no anaesthesia is required. What should I expect after the treatment? The treated area may feel warm and sensitive for the first few days post treatment. The lesions may darken and may appear more obvious before they fade and ‘flake’ away. Sometimes an initial whitening of the area is seen which quickly fades and the pigment gradually fades over the following few weeks. Are there any side effects? The skin that surrounds the pigmented lesion may become red immediately after treatment. Most people experience no other side effects and the redness usually disappears within hours to a few days. Very rarely a small blister may form or the skin may become temporarily lighter or darker. How long does each treatment take? The length of each treatment will depend on the type and size of lesion present, but a typical session will take 10 to 30 minutes.
Is it suitable for me?
Most people are suitable for treatment except for very dark skinned or tanned individuals. However, large, dark, mottled or raised pigmentation cannot be treated and may need to be checked by a dermatologist. Large, dark moles should not be treated, nor should lesions covering a large part of the body. The pigmented marks that respond the best are superficial lesions such as those caused by sun damage (sun spots) and freckles.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments will depend on the type and size of the pigmented lesion but typically 1 to 3 sessions are required at 4 to 6 week intervals.

Consultation Procedure Prior to treatment you must first undergo a consultation where details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm suitability. Before proceeding you will be asked to sign a consent form and undergo a test patch.
What types of veins can be treated?

Most red skin lesions, including facial thread veins, rosacea, spider naevi, and port wine stains, can be treated very successfully. Depending on the lesions, leg vessels can also respond well to treatment.
